V.Ships UK managed vessel Siteam Leader has been named Eitzen Chemical Vessel of the Year 2013.
Siteam Leader was one of this year’s ‘outstanding’ nominations and had no accidents or incidents of any kind throughout the whole of 2013.
Eitzen Chemical Crewing Manager, Søren G. Krarup-Jensens, said: “Good command, well trained and determined crew have done a great job keeping the winning vessel running flawlessly.”
The judging panel for the award noted that the ship has also identified a significant quantity of unsafe acts/conditions demonstrating a healthy safety culture and said that the “continued focus from the technical manager, officers and crew onboard on maintenance was admirable.”
The Port State Control performance was excellent with no defects noted during the 2 inspections which were carried out. In addition to the inspections by PSC, Siteam Leader has undergone 2 Sire inspections and one CDI inspection with an average of 3.66 observations per inspection.

The prize ceremony for the award is planned to take place during the upcoming crew seminar in Riga this May.
